![]() ![]() Feedback data from the o2 sensors to the ECM adjusts the AFR for every combustion cycle. Thunder-Max is an Alpha-N engine control management system for fuel injected motorcycles that uses a Wide Band sensors and a closed loop Auto Tune module. It is simple to use and can be “fine tuned” without the use of a dyno. Thunder-Max Auto-tune is a direct replacement ECM for H-D EFI models 1995-2008. This is because I want to be able to read codes if the bike throws one during tuning, and I want to be able to install my choice of nitrous oxide system, should I choose to. This sounds like a great system, but I will hold out for the SEPST (SE supertuner) or if that arrives to late for my bike, stick with the SERT I already have on my shelf. The Thunder Max ECM will not throw fault codes like the original one, but it will be compatible with the Twinscan II+ (although I have no idea why you would need it with this system) He told me that their system is far mor versatile than the stock ECM/sert-package. You will be able to adjust for change of front pulleyĪfter loading a base map or entering your hardware configurations, the system will be self learning, continously tuning as you ride.Īccording to zippers, you will have about 1900 points of adjustment with their ECM\software\autotune, whereas the stock ECM+SERT only has 600 points of adjustment. You will be able to manually adjust for knock and ignition timing. ![]() They don't know if or when they ever will. The Thunder Max will not be compatible with any other nitrous system than their own, which they don't have for the rods yet. No amount of persuation could make the guy tell me anything more than "soon". They don't know when the kit will be available for the v-rods. Coming from an open loop system to a closed loop system is the way to go.Right, gave Zippers a call, and this is what they are telling me: I would highly recommend this system for the older harleys, especially if you have done any modifications to the engine, fuel, air or exhaust system. This is the best spent bucks for my bike that I can imagine. I feel like kicking my own butt for putting up with the ill-running factory EFI system all of these years. Sitting at stop lights now there is no nasty exhaust smell coming up around me. The bike runs so much smoother, the decel has absolutely no pops or backfires now (actually, I kinda miss the popping, I got used to it). The idle sound is what I have always hoped for. It starts now, hot or cold, like a champ. I cannot begin to explain how satisfied I am with the way my bike runs and performs now. ![]() After installing as per instructions and loading up the proper tuning file, I took it out for a ride. It was a toss up between that and the Daytona Twin-Tec but I decided on the ThunderMax. Well, a few days ago, I have been saving my money up and I bought the ThunderMax EFI system. I just put up with all those years wishing I could make it better. Always ran rich and the exhaust would just suffocate you at a stop light. The bike had decel backfires and pops like you couldn't believe. Never could get the idle down to a RPM I liked. The bike has always been hard to start, pops, kickbacks and backfires. I have tried various tuners and bought the SE race tuner system about 12 years ago. I have been fighting the stock EFI system until today. ![]()
